great news

After attending the 3rd meeting of the SCSKF orgainizing committee Dec 10 I have alot of great news to report to you. Media has been good for our sport with a nice inside Canoe and Kayak Magazine cover spread of last years SCSKF at Steamer Lane. Vince Shay’s story page 21 www.deepzine.com. Would be great to see more news about paddlesurfing. Sponsors have stepped up to fill the tent spots at the contest site. Signup for the contest starts January 15.
The really big news is the College Surf Kayak Team Challenge. Galen Licht form UCSC has organized at least 4 colleges: UC Santa Barbara, CSUMB, Berkely, and UCSC. Teams are 4 persons with at least 1 female per team are gauranteed to provide excitement, youth, and a new event to the B site. Help cheer on the college of your choice.
Stand Up paddle Surf at SCSKF is returning this year in a big way. We will have 2 SUP divisions the Elite that compete for 3 days on the A site and a Stand Up division on the B site Saturday and Sunday. Trying to get Elite SUP competitors like Dave Kalama, Chuck Patterson, Zach and Jake Wormhoudt, Peter Mel, Kenny Collins, and other celebrity surfers to put on a show at the contest. More info on the contest at www.asudoit.com/kayak_fest/index.html Maybe we should think about renaming it the Santa Cruz Paddle Surf Contest in 2010?

Do you have any suggestions of an Elite SUP surfer in your area?
