Intermediate and Novice Categories

Registration closes March 1st

Note to All Participants

Due to the popularity of surfing in the area of Santa Cruz, practice and warm-up for the contest at Steamer's Lane will create additional pressure on a normally over-crowded situation. In order to maintain a good relationship with the surfing community, use of the Santa Cruz area beaches for practice before, during and after the contest is not recommended.

Check In - Saturday March 20th

Check-in will be Saturday March 20th, 7:00-8:00 am. The contestant's meeting will be at the Judge's Stand at 8:00 am.

Competition Details

Intermediate and novice categories will be held for two days at Cowell's Beach and/or Indicator Point. All contestants will surf both days. Placement will be determined by the sum of the contestant's scores in the heats of both days. Ties will be broken by best score and then by the best wave score. Categories will be broken into men's and women's if the number of men and women contestants can make a full heat.
First heat at 10:00 am.

Any contestant who engages in unsafe surfing in the area before the contest, fails to check in, attend contestant's meeting, comply with contest rules or sign a waiver will not be allowed to compete.

The cost, per expert event, is $60. The cost reflects an increased surcharge imposed by the city of Santa Cruz.

Categories with less than four (4) contestants will be canceled. Full refund is available if your category is full or cancelled.
