The 21st Annual Santa Cruz Kayak Surf Festival (SCKSF) will take to the waves March 16-18, 2007 in Santa Cruz, California. The best surf kayakers in the world will be in attendance to compete with the American team that won the 2005 World Championships. They will be here to hone their skills at the internationally acclaimed Steamer Lane break in preparation for the next World Competition in the fall of 2007 in Mundaka, Spain. This exciting new sport will display a new array of surf vehicle designs that will allow the athlete to soar out of the wave. This event is termed a festival in that it invites experts as well as intermediates and novices to compete and share their knowledge of surfing paddle powered vehicles.

World-renowned Steamer Lane point break in Santa Cruz will be the competition zone for all events during the March 16-18 festival weekend. The cliff top park along West Cliff Drive overlooking Steamer Lane will provide front row viewing for photographers and thousands of spectators, as well a contest judges. Manufacturers will have display booths to provide contestants and spectators an opportunity to see and touch the hottest new kayaks and gear from a variety of manufacturers. Food booths and a sound system with great music and surf heat play-by-play coverage will keep the festivities moving. Nightly town parties will be promoted keep the flow of energy and provide a forum of communication.
