Welcome to the 23rd Annual Santa Cruz Kayak Surf Festival (SCKSF). It is the largest contest in the surf kayaking world and attracts the best athletes and high end vehicle designs this planet can produce. It has become such because the wave at the venue, Steamer Lane, is a world renowned break especially suited to the speed and aerobatics of the new surf kayak. Last years event was a classic example of excellence for we were blessed with 10 to 15 foot glassy swell energy, with sunny blue skis, for three days. Athletes and high end environmental sports spectators come from all over the globe to view the best this sport can produce and bathe themselves in the ethos of Surf City Santa Cruz; it’s warm weather, surf environment, and the most abundant breaks anywhere. Asked a Welsh athlete which he preferred, swell or weather, which can be a contradiction, he proclaimed, “Sunny weather, we have swell back home but never sunny skis".

This event is called a Festival because its charter is in education. Even though we have the best athletes in attendance, we maintain a novice and intermediate site to promote learning and to introduce new events. New categories for this year will be the College Surf Kayak Challenge and Stand-up Paddle Surfing. To make this event especially educational for all, spectators and contestants alike, we invite manufactures who produce equipment for high end aquatic sports to display their products and express their ideas on the progress of this sport. The 23rd Annual SCKSF will be a circus of athletic skills, colorful product displays of exotic aquatic toys, multitudes of excited spectators, clamoring media, and nightly town parties to bind it all together. Get ready to rock and roll!

We invite manufacturers to become part of this magnificent energitic event, and entertain a host of global spectators and athletes interested in environmental aquatic sports.
